High Safety Ratings for the XT5

This year, Cadillac’s very own XT5 earned the rating of 2016 Top Safety Pick. Accomplishing this title calls for meeting several standards making it difficult for qualification. In order to qualify for this specific rating, the vehicle must receive great ratings in five crash tests. The tests include small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraints. Excelling in all of these tests, the XT5 also includes OnStar’s suite of emergency services. Paul Spadafora, the XT5 chief engineer, said, “We equipped the XT5 with Cadillac’s full set of driver awareness and driver assistance systems to aid collision avoidance. Just as importantly, we designed an advanced structure that is both stiffer and lighter, for excellent crashworthiness. This included a revised front structure that specifically targets the challenging offset barrier scenario.” Several safety systems are included in the XT5, such as Driver Awareness and Driver Assist Packages.
