New Standards in Panamera Production

Using innovative joint technologies to complete the work within the walls of their new body shop, Porsche has created one of the world’s most modern facilities of its kind in Leipzig. Two hundred hard-working employees as well as 475 robots produce the second generation of Panamera coming to the United States in early 2017. Aluminum is the latest material the brand uses to make the outer shell; 45 percent of the Panamera is made exclusively of aluminum. The production technologies are creating new standards for manufacturers worldwide as they join parts using mechanical and thermal processes. By doing so, the new Panamera has 50-percent fewer weld points than the Macan. There are several other processes used in the making of the new Panamera, such as punch riveting and aluminum laser-beam welding. The Leipzig factory that is producing the new Panamera is one of the most environmentally friendly facilities in the world. Sustainable use of resources takes over as one of the key roles in the expansion of the factory. Most of the technologies used are energy-efficient in a manner that just cannot be overlooked.
