Porsche Begins Production of Two-Door Sports Cars at Headquarters
Porsche launched the production of the new 718 Cayman at the company’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. This was a first-time event for Porsche; previously, the brand’s two-door sports cars have been manufactured at the Volkswagen facility in Osnabrück, Germany. The 718 Cayman is the first of many two-door coupes to be produced at the Stuttgart plant in the years to come. Albrecht Reimold, Executive Board Member for Production and Logistics for Porsche AG, described, “The production launch of the Cayman successor models was executed to our full satisfaction… [The team] handled this production launch impeccably. This is further proof that our employees work with perfection and passion on a daily basis to enable a very special Porsche experience for our customers.” The company is excited to bring another leg of production back to its headquarters, and it expects to produce 240 vehicles per day by August. The new 718 Cayman and 718 Cayman S can be ordered now, and they will arrive in the European market in September 2016 and in the American market several months later.
