First Porsche Ever Built Found In Austrian Shed

In cool news of the day: The very first Porsche ever built was recently unveiled in Stuttgart, Germany this past week.

 The vintage car had been sitting in an old shed in Austria since since 1902. It has been officially recognized as the 1889 Egger-Lohner electric car model — the C.2 Phaeton. It’s also known as the P1, signifying designer Ferdinand Porsche’s first model.

Porsche, who founded the namesake sports-car company in 1948, developed the vehicle while working for car builder Jacob Lohner.  The Phaeton design refers to an open-roofed car with front and back seats, similar to a horse-drawn carriage.
