It’s not every day that a newly-appointed president and CEO of a worldwide brand comes to Charleston, which is why it was especially exciting last fall when Steve Cannon, then VP of Marketing for Mercedes-Benz USA and now the company’s new president, spoke at the College of Charleston School of Business with Baker’s own president, Tommy Baker. Mr. Baker welcomed Mr. Cannon with College of Charleston President George Benson and Alan Shao, Dean of the School of Business, as well as 200 College of Charleston School of Business students.

Cannon just recently took on the role of president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA. He spoke at the College on Nov. 18, 2011, and gave a presentation on marketing the premium branded company. This included a topic on the company’s evolving customer base, as well as how Mercedes-Benz is moving toward more fuel-efficient vehicles by 2016.

He also discussed his background in marketing and working with dealers, including Mr. Baker and Baker Motor Company.

We congratulate Mr. Cannon on his esteemed new role and look forward to hosting him here in Charleston again.
